Retraining opportunities in cyber security and IT

With over 30% of their workforce being women, Softcat already leads the sector when it comes to gender diversity. Our attraction material, website pages and candidate communications all heavily feature females, but it’s what the company has done to turn any initial interest into engagement and a happy workforce (including balanced interview panels, flexible working and family-friendly policies to name a few) that has really made the difference to their success in this area.

However, never complacent, they are constantly looking for new ways to drive more inclusivity amongst this industry under-represented group. And indicative of that has been their new Tech Starter programme; where they have created a number of specialist roles for which they train new recruits from scratch to set them on a path to a great long-term future.

They’ve run two very successful campaigns in 2021 and early 2022 initially targeting women keen on a tech career after leaving the Armed Forces, and then a broader one targeting those wishing to retrain in a tech career after being away from professional life for a while. Now we’re running the third instalment and looking to bring in a new cohort in September 2022.

Central to each phase of recruitment has been a simple yet effective microsite that we designed and built. The site extolls the programme and the opportunities on offer with the UK’s Number 1 Value-Added Tech Solutions Reseller – https://techstarterprogramme.co.uk/
