When two becomes one

WDAD Communications were appointed to work with Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust as they approached a pivotal point in their history – an enforced merger with Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. At the time the local community were mounting a vigorous campaign to stave off reported cuts which had gained national attention, and morale amongst employees at Lewisham was poor. The Trust had reached a crisis point in many recruitment areas. The hospital needed to maintain its services through both retaining its existing staff and recruiting new ones.

Our initial strategy focused on explaining more about the potential benefits of the merger and reassuring people of the future. Our employee communications campaign had a core message of ‘A better future. Together’ and was rolled-out extensively. The campaign messaging aimed to harness the strength of feeling exhibited by the local community in a positive manner to make it a staple strength of the employer brand.

WDAD is focused on producing creative employer brand solutions for clients including those in the public and not-for-profit sectors. It therefore meant a huge amount for us to be recognised for our work when up against some huge multi-national staffing and recruitment agencies. The team works hard to building great partner relationships and we’re proud to fly the flag for the independent, boutique agencies.
