David Fielding, MBE, Managing Partner

David Fielding

David is the founder and Managing Partner of Attenti. For the past fifteen years he has worked with a wide variety of commercial, public and top 100 Charities, recruiting high calibre Chairs, Trustees, Chief Executives and Directors.

Prior to becoming a Headhunter David was a successful HR/OD Director. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has an MSc in Human Resource Development and an MA in Political Communications, Advocacy and Campaigning.

He is a special advisor to ACEVO, the Charity Leaders Network and has contributed to a range of thought leadership and public policy issues, including board governance and leadership, service delivery, executive remuneration and trust.

For over decade David was a central list OCPA Independent Public Appointments Assessor advising on wide range of high profile Ministerial Public Appointments. He was also an independent board advisor for the NHS Appointments Commission.

He is an ex World Record Holder and seven-time Aikido World Champion.

Ian Wolter, Deputy Chairman

Ian Wolter

Ian is Deputy Chairman of Attenti, he supports the board practice and has significant experience in building, growing and selling companies.

Ian was the Chief Executive of HCIG between 2005 and 2011.

Ian was also one of the founders of Eden Brown Recruitment in 1990 and led it to numerous firsts and awards including being the UK’s first Quality Assured agency and Sunday Times Best Company to Work For. A long term supporter of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC) efforts to raise standards, he was instrumental in forming the REC’s Diversity Forum and in its creation of Diversity Assured – an audit based diversity standard specific to the recruitment industry. He was awarded the REC’s ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award in 2005.

He is currently studying a Masters Degree in Fine Art.

Jim Banks, Head of Research

Jim Banks

Jim leads the research practice at Attenti and has over 12 years experience working within executive search. Prior to joining Attenti, Jim held senior candidate research roles with Tribal PLC and Gatenby Sanderson. His experience spans the commercial, public and not for profit sectors recruiting both executive and non executives.

Jim began his career in teaching and education management. Following seven years teaching English overseas, he was a trainer, consultant and project manager with the British Council in Algiers and the UK and was Second Secretary (Culture and Education) with the British Embassy, Beijing from 1995 to 1997.

Jim loves walking and generally spends at least one day each weekend exploring some remote and beautiful part of the Peak District.

Gayna Deacon, Head of Assessment

Gayna Deacon

Gayna leads and delivers on all aspects of Attenti’s assessment offer.

Gayna was employed by the FCO’s Diplomatic Service for 13 years undertaking various roles including Deputy Head of People Management (Europe & Wider Europe) and served overseas in Iraq, Bahrain and Cairo. In 2003 she joined the Occupational Psychology arm of TMP, a London based Consultancy, where she specialised in designing and delivering assessment and development and performance management programmes for public and third sector clients. In 2005 Gayna established her own consulting company, specialising in competency design and assessment for selection and development. Gayna has worked with David Fielding for the past seven years and leads the assessment work on an extensive and wide range of high profile executive appointments.

Gayna has a master’s degree in Business Psychology and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She is also an OCPA Accredited Independent Public Appointments Assessor.

Ruth Lesirge, Head of Consultancy

Ruth Lesirge

Ruth is a highly experienced voluntary sector Chief Executive, Trustee and Chair. Her portfolio includes coaching for chief executives and chairs, alongside a programme of facilitated peer learning groups for a range of clients. Her expertise also includes setting up foundations and charities, board reviews and awaydays, senior team management development programmes and organisational reviews.

Ruth is the founder and Chair of the Association of Chairs, where she has co-authored two publications, ‘A Chairs’s Compass’ and ‘ A Question of Balance- the Chair-Chief Executive Relationship! She is also a Trustee of the London International Film School and the Bishopsgate Institute.
A Senior Visiting Fellow at the Cass Business School for 6 years, she led the consultancy service for the Centre for Charity Effectiveness, including an innovative Chairs co-mentoring programme for the Governance Hub, for whom she has also co-authored The Trustee Recruitment Guide. Other publications include co-authoring of ‘Tools for Tomorrow’ (a strategy toolkit) and ‘Getting Ready for Enterprise’ (focusing on social enterprise start-up) for NCVO.

With a previous career as an adult and community education practitioner/writer and principal, she is also a qualified teacher, with postgraduate qualifications in adult education and voluntary sector management.

André Morris, Principal Consultant

André Morris

André has more than 20 years’ experience in executive recruitment. During that time he has worked with a variety of public and private sector organisations typically advising and assisting during major change or restructuring programmes.

He has recruited across all C-level roles as well non-executive and trustee posts. He has particular interest in creative technologies and spent the early part of his career in the media.

Susan Vincent, Principal Researcher

Susan Vincent

Susan is an experienced Researcher, having worked in the executive search industry since 1999. She was Head of Research at Best Executive Search for nearly seven years, before joining a small firm as a principal consultant. She spent nearly two years with Gerard Daniels as a Senior Research Associate before joining Cellence Plus as Head of Research for three and a half years.

Susan has recently joined the Research Department at Attenti, working alongisde Jim Banks to lead the search on a number of our assignments. Susan has extensive experience across the public and private sectors and has recruited a number of senior level appointments, including chief executives, chief operating officers, business unit level directors and financial and commercial professionals. She also has particular expertise in the oil, gas and nuclear sector as well as construction and engineering.

James Hedges, Partner

James joined Attenti in January 2016 with a specific focus to lead on, and specialise in, the recruitment of senior level interim staff within social care to a UK-wide range of public, private, and voluntary organisations.

James has worked within the nGAGE group since 2010, where he developed a successful recruitment career at Caritas Recruitment which equipped him with a vast knowledge of the social care market, and a passion for the recruitment of interim senior management across both children’s and adult’s social care. He has been a key player in the recruitment of numerous crucial roles within safeguarding over the past few years.

Prior to working within the nGAGE group, James worked for HCL Social Care and obtained a BA (Hons) in Drama.
